The Terri Allard Trio|
Saturday, November 10, 2012 Doors at 7:00pm/Show at 8:00pm
Award-winning singer-songwriter Terri Allard combines sultry sweetness and grit with an intimately personal writing style, lending a strong, authentic voice to the Americana music scene. On each of Allard's five notable recordings, her original material chronicles the highs and lows of living day-to-day. Universal themes of love and loss are explored with uncommon grace and soul.
Her co-writing credits include collaborating with five-time Grammy Award winner Mary Chapin Carpenter on the stirring ode Anna Carolyn. She's also garnered a WAMMIE (Washington Area Music Award) for Best Female Country Vocalist. Allard has performed her rootsy blend of country-folk in theaters, coffeehouses and festivals throughout the US. When not performing, Terri hosts and produces the Telly-Award winning show, Charlottesville Inside-Out, on WHTJ PBS television.
Joining Terri at the Southern will be Sonny Layne on bass and vocals and World Champion harmonica player, Gary Green.
Kathryn Caine is a North Carolina girl that has been singing, writing songs, and performing for forever. Her music combines many influences including bluegrass (the music she was raised with), soul (she has it), and rock (she loves it).
She has released 4 CDs, WHITEVILLE, THE KATHRYN CAINE BAND, BETTER, and now DOWN HOME GIRL. Kathryn Caine is a prolific songwriter and fantastic live performer and an amazing singer. You always hear traces of the high and lonesome in her voice as she sings songs that range from a woman scorned ,to the emptiness of rural life, to love and hope. Her music can be found at CDbaby and iTunes and needs no explanation as it speaks for itself. You will love what you hear!
