The Barons Release Party

with Skyward

About The Barons

“Imagine Chuck Berry and the Early Stones had a kid that grew up in the Joshua Tree listening to Brandon Flowers cover songs from Kings of Leon’s ‘Aha Shake Heartbreak’.”

Raw, catchy rock and roll you can’t help but dance along to, The Barons (formerly The Kairos Effect) feature frontman Peyton Alley, lead guitarist Josiah Ragland, drummer Tyler Morris, and bassist Kirtland Gray. Under the old name, the band built a solid following since 2013 going on three US tours, drawing in the college crowds and playing major 50,000+ festivals.
Towards the tail end of Spring 2015, the band released two singles as a Digital 45, ‘Hands On’ and ‘Crown’ with Sony producer Micah Wilshire out of Nashville, TN. “Hands On” brought on much playtime through iHeartMedia's XL102 out of Richmond, VA then spread throughout their home state stations. And later, both tunes were discovered and received excellent reviews through inFontana and other independent music critics.

The band now seeks to reach a broader audience in 2016 with the new name and is soon to release another Digital 45 featuring singles, “Rattle” and “Light Up” recorded at the famous Blackbird Studio (Kings of Leon, Jack White, etc.) in Nashville, TN under Wilshire yet again. With much promise behind their new singles, stay tuned for more from The Barons.

About Skyward

Skyward is a big, alternative rock band founded in the big, alternative mountains of Harrisonburg, Virginia. After three years and close to 400 shows all up and down the East Coast (including an appearance at Warped Tour 2015), Skyward now chooses to call Charlottesville, Virginia home. With music built around powerful, driving rhythms and soaring lead lines and melodies in the vein of acts like Imagine Dragons and Thirty Seconds to Mars, Skyward’s sound would not be out of place in large venues in front of massive crowds. And yet, their music has an intimate, unifying quality as well. With lyrics Jon describes as “honest attempts at self-discovery,” Skyward works to write and perform engaging and impactful music that challenges audiences to really search for meaning.

Now armed with their most recent EP “Drift,” (released on iTunes and Amazon on April 15, 2014) recorded at Spotlight Sound Studio in Atlanta, Georgia, Skyward expects big things on the horizon. “We’ve really stepped it up on Drift,” Jordan explains. “From the writing to the instrumentation to the production, it’s all gotten bigger, meatier, and more powerful.” Mike Schoeffel of The Dominion Collective writes that ““Every aspect of Drift seems to be geared toward the idea of expansiveness: the scorching guitar riffs, the sparse piano notes, the bellowing drums, the anthemic vocals…they all coalesce into a grandiose sound that gives the listener a feeling of elevation.”Music that is, in a word, big. And as they always say, “Go big…”
